چکیده

Extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) includes several serotypes that have been associated with colibacillosis in poultry, as well urinary tract infections and newborn meningitis humans. This study investigated the antimicrobial activities of ceftriaxone (AXO) cranberry pomace extracts (CRAN) alone or combination (CC) against multidrug-resistant (MDR) ExPEC from broiler. The growth-inhibitory activity CRAN synergy tests by a checkerboard method were determined cation-adjusted Mueller–Hinton broth (CAMHB). transcriptomic profile MDR E. Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli: A Combination of Virulence with Antibiotic Resistance

Escherichia coli represents an incredible versatile and diverse enterobacterial species and can be subdivided into the following; (i) intestinal non-pathogenic, commensal isolates. (ii) Intestinal pathogenic isolates and (iii) extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli or ExPEC isolates. The presence to several putative virulence genes has been positively linked with the pathogenicity of ExPEC. E. coli...

Adhesive threads of extraintestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli

The ability to adhere to host surfaces is by far the most vital step in the successful colonization by microbial pathogens. Colonization begins with the attachment of the bacterium to receptors expressed by cells forming the lining of the mucosa. Long hair like extracellular appendages called fimbriae, produced by most Gram-negative pathogens, mediate specific attachment to the epithelial cell ...

Differential Regulation of the Surface-Exposed and Secreted SslE Lipoprotein in Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli

Extra-intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) are responsible for diverse infections including meningitis, sepsis and urinary tract infections. The alarming rise in anti-microbial resistance amongst ExPEC complicates treatment and has highlighted the need for alternative preventive measures. SslE is a lipoprotein secreted by a dedicated type II secretion system in E. coli that was first ...
